About the Sleep Test
A sleep test is an examination that measures various body functions during sleep to diagnose sleep disorders such as snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). These conditions may contribute to the development of serious health problems, including high blood pressure, acute myocardial infarction (heart attack), cardiac arrhythmia, heart failure, cerebrovascular disease (stroke), cognitive impairment, and decreased sexual performance.
Prior to the sleep test, patients will have an initial consultation with a physician to discuss sleep-related symptoms. This allows the physician to evaluate the necessity of the test and determine appropriate diagnostic and treatment options.
